About the Library
The MUIS Library plays a vital role in furthering the academic and research mission of Ganpat University and facilitates creation and dissemination of knowledge. The range and quality of services offered by the library at Mehsana Urban Institute of Sciences are at par with any other institutes on our University campus.
Soon after MUIS Library came into being formally in the year 2006, immediate emphasis was given on a good collection development of Text Books and Reference Books. Besides holding an excellent print collection of over 8900+ volumes of books, it also provides access to popular magazines, selected journals, theses, reports, e-books, e-journals and online databases in Sciences.
Library Timings
The library is currently kept open on all week days, and on working Saturdays, except for the Institute holidays.

Library Membership
MUIS Library provides its membership by default to all the bonafide members (students, research scholars, faculty members and staff) of the Institute. The membership is valid for as long as the user remains the member of the Institute. The library membership will be suspended or terminated and disciplinary action will be taken in case the member is found to have done any of the following:
- Found misusing/mutilating/stealing/cutting pages from a book
- Improper use of Library facilities
Borrowing Facility
Only Registered Members can borrow books from the MUIS Library upon production of their individual Identity Card issued by the institute at the circulation desk. The entitlement period and number of books to be kept on loan for different categories of members are as follows:

Renewal of Books
If a loan book is not on demand, then the user is allowed for renewal of the said book for as many times as it is required. However, if the loan book is in huge demand and/or if the number of copies are less, then there shall be only one-time renewal for the said loan book. The renewal of books can be done through the Library Catalog / Web OPAC or with the help of library staff at the circulation counter. The library reserves the right to recall any book issued to the user at any point in time if need aeries.
No Dues/Clearance Certificate
No Dues/Clearance/Objection Certificate may be issued to members by clearing all the outstanding dues with respect to the borrowed book
Arrangement of the Library Collection
The library collections are arranged in the following ways: All books in print are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system and are arranged by classification number (subject wise) on the shelf. The detailed shelf guides are provided in the stack area for easy location.
Reserve text books are arranged in the reading room for library reading only. Print journals are arranged in the alphabetical order
Library Rules:
It is compulsory to bring the Institute ID card while using the Library.
Institute ID card is a must for library transactions.
User must ensure and maintain atmosphere of dignity, peace and silence at all times in the library
User must handle the library materials with utmost care.
Use of personal stereos, music-sets and Walkman’s, IPods etc. in the library is not permitted.
Keep your personal belongings at the property counter.
Smoking, food and drinks are not allowed in the library.
No material from the library should be taken outside.
In case when a book is lost, the student/staff responsible shall have to newly purchase the same book title and publication and shall have to bear the full cost of the purchase.
