Dr. Ajay Desai is a Graduate in Chemistry from St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad. He completed his Post-Graduation in Organic Chemistry as a Gold Medalist and earned his Doctorate from Ganpat University, Mehsana.

His research interests include Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Fluorescent Sensors, Supramolecular Chemistry, and Nanomaterials. He has particular knack of synthesising calix[4]pyrrole derivatives and their sensing mechanisms. Dr. Desai has authored more than 10 research publications and has guided over 35 M.Sc. dissertation and project students.

He is currently serving as the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) for a Major Research Project funded with ₹3.0 lakhs and an SSIP Startup Project funded with ₹2.0 lakhs.

At present, he serves as the Chemistry Research Laboratory Coordinator, N.S.S. Program Officer, and Sports Coordinator at Mehsana Urban Institute of Sciences, Ganpat University.
